CDM2015: A Practical Guide for Designers and Practice Managers

Aim

This course introduces construction health and safety (H&S) law in context, how to prepare practice policies, and CDM2015.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognise the elegant simplicity of H&S and how to be compliant with statutory duties
  • Prepare practice policies that comply with legal requirements and pre-qualification assessment schemes
  • Recognise CDM2015 key duties and responsibilities and how to discharge Designer and Principal Designer duties

Tutor

Liz Bennett is a chartered civil engineer and chartered H&S professional. She learned her H&S skills with Costain on sites across the UK and has worked as Head of H&S for Atkins. Liz now works with the University of the West of England and many academic, regulatory and industry partners on web-based H&S capability maturity indices for design practices.

Intended for

Any practising designer, design manager, practice manager or academic teacher of these groups. It is as relevant to architects and civil/building services engineers as it is to structural engineers

Entry criteria

None. However, a basic knowledge of the industry gained through practical experience would be useful.

Don't delay booking your place - if we have not received enough bookings to break even one month before the date of the course, we will have to cancel it.
