This course reviews the historic use of post-tensioning in buildings, examines types of systems, basic design principals, TR43 approach, best practice and detailing.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Scheme a post-tensioned beam or slab structure with realistic outcomes
- Perform simple detailed design
- Provide simple detailing intent for drafting
Matthew Gilliver has 16 years’ experience in the design of structures, including post-tensioning. He is currently the Technical Director of CCL (Europe) leading a team of design engineers based in Leeds. He and his team also provide extensive technical support for site-based activities including supervision and training. At CCL, Matthew has been responsible for the delivery of post-tensioned projects such as Strata and St George’s Tower in London, Energy Research Building at Leeds University, New Engineering Building at the University of Sheffield. Matthew contributed to the Post-Tensioning Association (PTA) series of Guidance Notes and is the current Chair of the PTA Technical Committee.
Graduates through to chartered engineers who wish to improve or enhance their knowledge of post-tensioned building design.
