Ed is a Director within the Building Engineering Division of Ove Arup & Partners in London. Ed leads a wide range of projects working with leading and emerging UK and international architects. He has experience of both new-build and refurbishment projects across a range of different building typologies and scales from private houses to city masterplanning. He holds a firm belief in the concept of ‘total design’ and the improved quality and economy that can be generated through an integrated and truly holistic approach.
Mike is a qualified architect and landscape architect. He established his practice after leaving the RCA in 1989 and founded Tonkin Liu with Anna Liu in 2001. Mike’s professional practice has been informed by a distinctive pursuit of form and lessons observed from the natural world. Mike has lectured at numerous schools of architecture, including the AA, the Bartlett School of Architecture, University of Cambridge, the RCA, and the University of Westminster. He is a Teaching Fellow at the University of Bath, where he is also currently undertaking a PhD.
Giancarlo is a senior structural engineer, specialised in parametric design and dealing with complex three-dimensional geometries. He joined Arup in 2014 and forms part of a London-based multi-disciplinary engineering team which collaborates with many leading and emerging architectural practices. His experience ranges from sculptures to long-span roof structures and stadia. He is passionate about innovative architectural design and how cutting-edge engineering is key to its realisation. He currently teaches at the Architectural Association, London.
