This course delivers key advice and guidance on seismic design of structures to Eurocode 8 as well as the application of the Eurocode. Emphasis is placed on reinforced concrete buildings although the concepts are widely applicable.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
Professor Costas Georgopoulos is Chair in Structural Engineering Practice and Head of Civil Engineering at Kingston University London. He is also a practising chartered civil and structural engineer with many years’ unique multi-sector experience. Costas’ expertise in seismic design includes conventional RC Framed Buildings (Greece) and state-of-the-art structures (Trident Submarine Refitting Facility at Rosyth and Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station, UK). He is also a member of the BSI National Expert Committee for Eurocode 8.
Structural and civil practising engineers seeking guidance on the application of Eurocode 8, graduates undertaking their initial professional development, and students, researchers and academics with limited seismic design experience.
No previous experience in dynamics is required.

A two-day introduction to the seismic design of civil engineering structures. The course will cover the basics of structural dynamics and engineering seismology with a focus on seismic loading and design codes.
Dedicated training for practising structural engineers who want to be able to design retaining walls or want to update their knowledge of a retaining wall design.
Training for Chartered and graduate civil and structural engineers focusing on EN 1991 - Eurocode 1
Training for practising structural engineers who want to develop a better understanding of the design of foundations and walls to Eurocode 7
This course supports the practising designer with the transition to Eurocode-based design for composite building structures. It will enable you to understand the essential requirements of this code for your structural design, how the code operates and how it can support you.
Learn how to explain design using masonry to Eurocode 6 and design for vertical and lateral loads
This course guides you to successful use of aluminium with some simple facts allied to detailed guidance in using Eurocode 9.
An introduction to fundamental vibrations theory for civil and structural engineers dealing with problems of building and structural vibration
Vibration serviceability design and assessment, structural performance monitoring and vibration mitigation
