An online presentation about structural analysis, design and detailing using digital technology.

The implementation of digital workflows is a fast growing area of structural design. They allow geometry to be easily manipulated and iterated, driving efficient structural solutions and managing change at a rapid pace.

Visual programming and parametric engines such as Grasshopper for Rhinoceros 3D, are not only influencing the way structural engineers manage and deliver projects with complex geometries, but also the way simple repetitive design tasks or regular building geometries are engineered and communicated.

This seminar will discuss the principles of digital design tools, the benefits in structural design and model-for-fabrication, as well as present case studies where digitally enabled workflows are driving a valuable ‘step-change’ in project delivery.

Clayton has a wealth of design experience on projects of varying scale and complexity across a number of design offices both nationally and internationally.

He has boundless enthusiasm to explore new and sophisticated methods of working, leading the implementation of digital workflows on a range of iconic and award-winning projects.

Raymond Chow, Senior Structural Engineer, Digital Portfolio Leader, Arup Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Raymond is a senior engineer based in Kuala Lumpur. He is successfully implementing digital and BIM workflow on local and international projects.

His interest lies in adding value to his projects using the latest reliable digital and BIM technology
