Contracts are used throughout the construction industry on a daily basis.  Understanding the law which regulates contracts is therefore very important.

In this session, we will cover the basics of contract law, including:

  • The legal requirements for a valid contract

  • How contracts form

  • Breach of contract and damages

  • Termination and discharge of a contract

Speaker

William Brown is a Director at Fortfield & Brown, a specialist legal firm with expertise in construction law, procurement and dispute resolution.  William is a qualified civil engineer, solicitor and adjudicator.
 
William is retained by a wide range of clients from large public sector bodies to small subcontractors.  He regularly advises clients on all aspects of construction law.  He is also a lecturer in construction law and dispute resolution at Queen’s University Belfast.
