CPGCE - Digitising Canada’s Built Environment: The Role of BIM

Bill Moore will provide an overview of the global digitisation initiative with a discrete focus on the role of Building Information Modelling.

The global Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry is in the midst of a journey towards digitalisation. Important drivers are fueling this appetite to modernise practices, and technology has evolved to support the transition. Building Information Modelling (BIM) serves an important role in digitizing the built environment.

This session will attempt to provide rational for this transition, define BIM, address Global and National BIM maturity, and provide a view into the future.

Bill is an active contributor to international, national and regional Building Information Modelling (BIM) committees and organisations. Bill sits as the Treasurer and Board of Director member for buildingSMART International, is the president of buildingSMART Canada, represents the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada (ACEC) as the Chair of the Institute for BIM in Canada, is a member of the International Standards Organization (ISO), the Standards Council of Canada Mirror Committee, the Consulting Engineers of Alberta’s BIM Task Force, and is the chairman and founder of the Calgary BIM Community.
