Robustness can be defined as the “property of systems that enables them to survive unforeseen or unusual circumstances”. Typically, structures are designed for circumstances that are foreseen with predictable probability of occurrence during their design life. Structural Design for Robustness will be explored in relation to its intended purpose, code provisions, international best practice and illustrated with practical applications.
Nimal Perera is the Principal Consultant and Proprietor of Kasina Consultants. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, as well as the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Structural Engineering, QUT. Nimal has vast international experience spanning Australia, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Trinidad, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Brazil and Kazakhstan.
