Joint Meeting with Bedford Civil Engineering Society - Replacing the Chelmer Viaduct

Designing and constructing a new 500m long viaduct for Highways England to carry the A138 across the River Chelmer flood plain was not without its challenges!  This talk dips into the history of the scheme to replace the original 1930’s structure and explains the constraints and thoughts behind the design and scheme preparation.

The speakers will also provide insights into how some of the construction challenges were addressed on site in order to deliver the scheme on time and on budget.
