CPD Seminar: Structural Failure, Robustness and Disproportionate Collapse

This seminar will explore structural failures, with a particular focus on disproportionate collapse. It will cover steel, timber and concrete buildings, including Eurocode requirements for building classification and approaches for prevention.  It will also cover related themes, including structural inspection of large buildings as part of the response to a collapse event, in the context of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in April 2013; and structural failures during construction, examining a case study of basement construction in the UK which had adverse effects for a neighbouring property.

This seminar is expected to be of interest to all structural engineers involved in the design of new buildings, or alterations to existing buildings, as well as SER certifiers.
