Party Walls - For Engineers

The Surrey Regional Group's next Technical Meeting will be held on Monday 11 November 2019 at the University of Surrey, where Simon Pole will talk about party wall matters and challenges for structural engineers.

The talk will cover the following questions:

  • What is The Party Wall Etc Act 1996?
  • Why important for engineers?
  • Challenges for engineers
  • Best practice for design engineers
  • Design details good and bad!
  • Basements and special foundations in detail… if time allows.

Simon Pole is a Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer and also a Chartered Building Surveyor, and owner of Pole Structural Engineers in Wimbledon for almost 30 years.

In addition to running a busy design practice, Simon specialises in party wall matters and spends a lot of time scrutinising other engineers’ submissions on behalf of Adjoining owners Surveyors so is well placed to advise what sort of information a Design Engineer should be providing in order to avoid pitfalls and smooth the process. He has provided this talk to London branch for the last few years, which has been well received.
