Structural Restoration and How to Become a Conservation Accredited Engineer

The Conservation Accreditation Register of Engineers (CARE) has around 70 members, many of whom are chartered to the IStructE.  Local Authorities often demand their specific involvement in key decisions relating the listed buildings: CARE is regularly mentioned in such planning conditions. James will outline what it takes to become a Conservation Accredited Engineer and how you apply. He will give some project examples from his career in structural heritage, including work at Tynemouth Station, Westminster Hall and the Iron Bridge in Shropshire.

A short presentation will also be made by IStructE Student Award winner, Caomhan Cronin on his Bachelors’ final year dissertation.  He is currently studying for his Masters in Structural Engineering at the University.
