Demolition: The Royal Mail Sorting Office

Many structural engineers concern themselves with the construction of shiny new buildings, but what happens when those buildings come to the end of their lives or need to be removed? And what if there is an existing building in the way of the new development?

As demolition finally starts at Bristol’s most (in)famous eyesore, the former Royal Mail Sorting office, David and John give an insight to the structural (and other) challenges of undertaking a major demolition project 3m away from Bristol Temple Meads and the Floating Harbour.
