Gloucester Transport Hub – transforming the city

At the first of our events in 2019, we welcome the new Chair of the Western Counties Region - Erik Dirdal.  Erik has served on our regional committee for several years, and is now looking forward to taking up the reins for what we expect to be an interesting year for our region, and the UK as a whole.

In this presentation Erik will look at the design of the new spectacular Transport Hub in Gloucester and explain how the structural engineering design works in close harmony with the architecture to deliver a transformational project for the city.  In these dynamic times, the importance of renewal and bringing fresh pride to our city centres is an increasing priority, and it is hoped that this new bus interchange will be a catalyst for major regeneration in the city and surrounding area.

About the speaker:
Erik brings over 20 years of experience as a chartered structural engineer and is the Director of Civil & Structural Engineering at BDP in Bristol.  He has been instrumental in the engineering of a wide variety of projects throughout his career and takes great pride in delivering excellence in building design. Working within an inter-disciplinary company, where engineers work alongside architects on a day to day basis, Erik is a strong believer in the value of collaboration and the unique design opportunities that this can engender.
