This online presentation will describe the development of a Compliance Plan approach.

The Scottish Government’s Building Standards Division (BSD) have proposed a new Compliance Plan (CP) approach for buildings classified as High Risk Buildings (HRB).

The purpose of the Compliance Plan is to demonstrate that the duty imposed on the “relevant person” (usually the building owner or developer) is being managed robustly at the design and construction stages of a project, when certifying compliance with building regulations and when signing and submitting a completion certificate to deliver a compliant building.

A new professional role, the Compliance Plan Manager (CPM), will be established. The CPM will work on behalf of the relevant person (RP) and will be responsible for developing a CP with the design team and contractor (when appointed), in line with guidance provided in a Compliance Handbook. Join our lunchtime presentation and find out more.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Speaker

Frank Doherty has worked in the building standards profession in Scotland continually since 1995, across three separate Scottish Local Authorities and more recently with Building Standards Division of the Scottish Government. Progressing from trainee to team leader Frank has collected project management, digital and change experience as well as an intimate understanding of the building standards system. This has led to being appointed as Standards Compliance and Digital Strategy Team Leader within the Scottish Civil Service.
