This joint meeting between IES and IStructE will talk about injecting new life in our existing buildings - the sustainable solutions to meet the ambitious carbon target.

This will a hybrid event with opportunities to watch in person or online. 

The talk will look at the science and practice of sustainably retrofitting existing buildings and will be illustrated with real life examples.

Speaker

Steve Fernandez FIStructE, Director, Arup
Steve is a Director who has been working at Arup for with over 22 years and is an experienced chartered civil engineer and chartered structural engineer with a strong delivery record on a wide range of projects locally, nationally and internationally. He is the global building retrofit leader at Arup, leading a network of experts in retrofit, adaptation and reuse of buildings, sharing best practices, knowledge and skills to provide clients with leading solutions that re-invigorate and restore value to buildings.

Steve has extensive experience on existing buildings of different ages, including some exceptional examples of ‘adaptive reuse’ which have unlocked value economically, environmentally and socially.
