Naeem will talk about the ethos of design and its role in project success. He will also discuss what may be done to improve competence in engineering design.
Naeem is a world leading bridge designer with a lifetime of experience in the design of bridges and transport facilities. He is Arup's Global Bridge Leader. He was the concept designer and design leader for the Queensferry Bridge. This three tower cable-stayed bridge is the first in the world to use crossed cables at this scale. He was inducted to the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Scottish Regional Group will hold a dinner followed with a short awards ceremony to recognise the achievement of their student prize-winners and recently Chartered Members.
All engineers require effective public speaking and presentation skills. This dynamic and entertaining masterclass will cover the skills required to enable delivery of more confident and effective presentations.
A half day seminar that covers embedded pile walls, bottom up and top down construction of basements, all in accordance with Eurocodes 2 and 7.
