An expert from the British Board of Agrément will talk about aspects of performance of materials and structures from a perspective of the construction certification authority in the UK.

Offsite manufacturing and Modern Methods of Construction
Modern methods of construction (MMC) should form the future of construction. There are many challenges to be tackled in conjunction with MMC, including materials, design and development, manufacturing methods, etc. The speaker will focus on problems and shortcomings of MMC in this discussion rather than on solutions.

Innovation in construction industry and relevant obstacles
Certification of construction products is a challenge for innovators. However, it is not considered as the main obstacle faced. This discussion will be formed as a brainstorming with the participants if they put themselves in the shoes of innovators and imagine putting their potentials into practice. The main focus of this discussion will be drawn on clarifying the difference between a dreamer and an innovator.

The Influence of insulation on structural performance of building systems
If effects of insulation on structural performance of building systems are not ignored, many questions can be raised and many unknowns explored. The speaker will provide a few examples from wall, floor and roof panels to sublayers in highways and permanent formworks.
