DISC 2017: High tech concrete - where technology and engineering meet

This half day conference will provide practitioners with a valuable update on the latest developments in concrete technology and their application to structural engineering. Speakers from industry and academia will cover fibre reinforced cementitious composites, special concrete mixes and modelling complex geometry.

DISC (Developments in Structural Concrete), now in its 5th year, is brought to you by fibUK (the UK group of the International Federation for Structural Concrete).

Date 29 November 2017

Why attend
  • See some convincing design applications of textile reinforced concrete and high performance FRC
  • Hear about the latest developments in fabricating composite reinforcement in exactly the right geometry, with exactly the right strength, exactly where it is needed
  • Learn how the challenges of designing and modelling a profiled lattice fa├žade that needed to be replicated in the structural frame were overcome at the John Lewis store in Leeds
  • Get briefed on the latest uses of special mixes including self-compacting concrete
