PART I. REPEATED STRESSES ON STEEL STRUCTURES. The design of structures of steel and reinforced concrete can roughly be divided into three classes: (1) in which the dead loads and thus the stresses in the structures are large as compared with any moving loads that may come on to the structures; (2) structures in which the stresses due to moving loads may be large as compared with those due to the dead loads; and (3) structures in which the dead and live load stresses may be of the same order of magnitude.
