CONSIDERATIONS similar to those developed by the Author for metallic beams bent beyond the yield point** may be extended for a restricted period of the bending to reinforced concrete beams. Some of the experiments referred to were carried out at the suggestion of Professor C.E. Inglis, F.R.S., at the Cambridge University Engineering Laboratory; some were carried out many years previously by the Author in the Laboratory for Testing Materials of the Polytechnic School at Zurich.
