Correspondence. The Lateral Pressure of Earth Agaitut Footings Subject to Overturning Moment

I was very interested in the article on earth pressures by Dr. Fordham in the July issue of the Journal. I quite agree that the present theories suffer from the disadvantage that they do not take into account the relation between the earth pressure or resistance and the movement of aspects of Dr. Fordham’s conclusions on which I should like to comment.
