Charter Counsel

To be elected Chairman of any Branch of this Institution is a compliment; to be elected the first Chairman of a new Branch is a distinction; to be elected first Chairman of the first Branch to be founded in this country since the Institution was granted a Royal Charter is, in no uncertain sense, an honour. I appreciate gentlemen, the fact that you have selected me to stand at your head in this important venture. It shall be my endeavour during my term of office to promote the aims for which both the Institution and the Branch exist, to bear in mind the interests of our members in the Northern Counties, and to assist you in the responsibility of our position.
