Ridged Steel Arch Roofs
The paper deals with the practical application of the normal methods of calculating the thrusts and moments in arch frames. Formulae and nomograms are provided which considerably simplify the work entailed in the design of two-pin arches. Examples of continuous arches actually carried out have been provided, together with an outline of the method of approach. Practical details such as shoe and eaves joints are considered in some detail and the merits of various types compared.
