Presidential Address - The Fine Art of Structural Engineering

When I sat the Institution examination 25 years ago, I concentrated on the matter in hand and did not reflect on the future: to add corporate membership of such a distinguished Institution to one's credentials was sufficient objective in itself. It is therefore a memorable occasion for me to take up the duties of President on the Silver Jubilee of my becoming a corporate member. I am deeply conscious of the privilege of so doing and will exercise every effort to serve the interests of the Institution and its members in the year ahead. D.J. Lee
