A New Approach to the Circulation of Wind Forces on Vertical and Horizontal Latticed Structures

This paper examines the limitations of methods used almost universally for the calculation of wind loads on vertical and horizontal latticed structures. As a result of difficulties experienced in the application of these methods to the design of cranes, a comprehensive review of past wind-tunnel tests, supplemented by additional testing, has been undertaken. The results have led to the formulation of new methods of design which are applicable to a wide range of latticed structures and also cover non-orthogonal presentations to the wind. J.F. Eden, A.J.
