The Design and Construction of Cable-Stayed Steel Roof Structures for Yishun Indoor Stadium and Sports Complex, Singapore

The design and construction of a cable-stayed steel roof for the 32 m cantilever structures over Yishun Indoor Stadium & Sports Complex - the first of its kind in Singapore - are described. The design philosophy, structural concept, structural modelling, and method of analysis are discussed. The design and construction of key structural elements such as the cable, steel mast, A-frame, truss and their structural behaviour are described in detail. The method of construction, connection, anchorage and prestressing of cables are highlighted. Dynamic analysis was carried out to determine and confirm the adequacy of structural design against dynamic loads, and the result is briefly discussed. J.M. Lau, K.B. Tan and C.C. Fong
