Bridges for the Bridgend Cross Valley Link Road Scheme

The Bridgend Cross Valley Link Road scheme, shown on Fig l, involved major changes to the road layout and upgrading of the existing highway network in the town centre. The main purpose of the scheme was to alleviate the traffic congestion by removing the through traffic; pedestrianisation of the town centre could then follow. The scheme forms part of the upgrading of classified routes in and around Bridgend which include previous improvement of the Inner Bypass, Tremains Road extension, the widening of Cowbridge Road east of the railway bridge, and the ongoing construction of the Bridgend Northern Distributor Road to link up with the M4 motorway at Sarn.
