Promoting the Concept of Sustainable Development

How do we, as engineers, help tackle some of the threats to our environment by promoting the concept of Sustainable Development? I’m not a ‘green’ campaigner. I’m not a member of Greenpeace or Friends of the Earth. But I do take notice of what is happening in the world around me. Like most of us I watch television, read newspapers, listen to correspondents’ reports etc, and recognise a steady build up of concern about the state of our environment and the future prospects for mankind.
