Parametric calibration of BS6399-2:1997 - wind loads on rails and purlins

This paper compares the wind loads on rails and purlins derived from BS 6399 Loading for buildings, Part 2 Code of practice for wind loads 1997 against the previous practice defined by CP 3-V-2:1972. Any changes introduced by the 2001 amendment to BS 6399-2:1997 are included. The calibration compares the implementation rules and values of internal and external pressure coefficient, including an earlier calibration of dynamic pressures1, to calibrate the effective design loads on the rails and purlins.
