Past Papers and Examiner Reports
Links to past papers are shown below. The Institution recommends that candidates use the past papers to familiarise themselves with the format of the examinations, understand the scores allocated to each section and to practice answering questions.
The examiner reports are produced at the end of each examination cycle. With effect from 2009, the reports for the Associate-Membership and Chartered Membership July examinations have been produced in one document. The reports provide details of the pass rates for each examination, as well as valuable feedback from the marking examiners. These provide a useful insight into the markers’ views on how the questions were answered and where candidates went wrong or lost marks.
Answers to the Questions
The examinations are designed to allow candidates to prove their ability to design a structure to a specific brief. There is therefore no one correct answer. However, Dr Peter Gardner has included possible solutions to some of the questions in the exam preparation CDs that are produced annually. Links to these possible solutions have been included under the exam papers for the relevant year.
The Chartered Membership Examination - An Examiners Perspective
Dr Tendayi Munyebvu, one of the Institution's Marking Examiners, has written a paper giving an overview of the exam from a Marking Examiner's viewpoint which candidates may find useful when preparing for the Examination.
