Candidates wishing to apply through the agreement with should review the details of the agreement to confirm their eligibility to proceed.

The Agreement facilitates the following:
  1. SAICE confirms that members of the Institution of Structural Engineers (FIStructE, MIStructE, AIStructE and AMIStructE) are eligible to become SAICE members provided that they are active in civil engineering at the time of their admission. Such persons, once admitted, will be entitled to use the letters MSAICE to designate their grades.
  2. The Institution of Structural Engineers confirms that members of SAICE, who are domiciled outside of the European Union, are registered in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000 (Act 46 of 2000) as Professional Engineers, are actively engaged in structural engineering and who pass the Institution’s Professional Review Interview (PRI) may be eligible for entry into the AIStructE grade provided that they apply using Form A. This is a Chartered grade and Associates are eligible to register with the Engineering Council to use the CEng designation.
  3. AIStructE members who have continued to demonstrate a major responsibility in the practice of structural engineering and are aged 35 or over will be eligible for consideration to transfer to FIStructE, subject to the normal peer assessment for transfer to Fellow, by using the appropriate application Form F.
