Congratulations to all those who sat our exams in July: here is a brief update on what comes next.
The Institution’s examinations took place on 7 July 2017. We arranged 57 examination centres around the world, hosting:
What comes next?
The return of the scripts
- 456 Chartered Membership candidates
- 7 Associate-Member candidates
- 6 Specialist Diploma candidates (Seismic)
- 1 Specialist Diploma candidates (Offshore)
The scripts will be returned to HQ, scanned and allocated to markers.
Two chartered structural engineers will independently mark each paper. All papers are subject to review at a final moderation meeting and, where necessary, adjudication by Chief Examiners.
- You should expect your result in late October/ early November. These can be accessed online via “my account” facility and will be followed up with a formal letter of confirmation .
If you do not pass you may request feedback via “my account”. There is inevitably some delay but requests will be processed as quickly as possible (ideally within four weeks of the results being released).
Election to Chartered Membership
Once approved by the appropriate Panel and Committee, your membership records will be upgraded and you may use AMIStructE/MIStructE.
The registration fees for IEng/CEng will be added when your records are updated. Once these fees have been paid, we inform the Engineering Council who will then contact you with your IEng/CEng certificate. It is not compulsory to register as IEng/CEng and these fees will be removed at the end of the year if you do not wish to register.
Membership /Specialist Diploma Certificates
It takes about six weeks to have these printed, signed and sealed. If you sat the July exam in the UK you can either receive your certificate by post or at the certificate presentation ceremony later in the year.
Organising the examinations is a real team effort and we'd like to thank everyone who played a part in writing, drawing, approving, hosting, invigilating and (still to come) marking the examinations.
