Prize awarded for outstanding exam paper

Published: 02/11/2017

Congratulations to Mark Hill, who has been awarded the Denis Matthews Prize – presented for outstanding performance in the Associate-Membership examination.

The prize is awarded only when the Chief Examiner feels that an exam paper is so exemplary it deserves nomination to the Exam Panel.

Mark, 33, who works for Bourne Construction Engineering Ltd, said:

“I was delighted to hear that I had won the Denis Matthews Prize for my AM paper. During the year leading up to the exam I put a lot of time and effort into preparation which really paid off – winning this award has made it all worthwhile.

“Time management and ‘keeping it simple’ were the two core factors which led to me passing and I would emphasise this to any other candidates taking the exam.  Achieving my IEng AMIStructE status has marked a proud milestone of my career as a structural engineer, I now look forward to further engineering challenges facing me in the future.”
