Career talk on the importance of early work experience

Published: 16/11/2017

Civil engineering students would benefit from seeking work experience as early as they can, according to the Institution's UAE Regional Group.

The advice was delivered during a career talk hosted at the Civil Engineering Department of Heriot-Watt University.

The event aimed to encourage civil engineering students to acquire work experience as soon as possible, with the Institution offering to help connect them with employers.

The talk preceded the Regional Group's annual general meeting, which saw the Group elect the members of its 2018 Committee, in addition to presenting a report on its 2017 activities.

Mohamad Al-Dah FIStructE, Chairman of the Regional Group, said:

“We are proud of our achievements in the UAE this year, in terms of our specialised evening talks, Chartered Membership exam preparation courses, and focus on youth - as they are the future of the UAE.”

The AGM concluded with the presentation of a Regional Group Award to Dr Olisanwendu Ogwuda of Heriot Watt University, recognising his services to the engineering community.
