EEFIT sent a mission to Sulawesi, Indonesia to carry out post-disaster fieldwork following the earthquake and tsunami of 28 September 2018.

The mission aims to assess the impacts of the event on the built environment as well as the management and mitigation practices and systems in place.

The knowledge and skills resulting from the mission will be invaluable to structural, civil and geotechnical engineering disciplines as well as natural hazard and risk assessment and will ultimately help to reduce losses in future events.

The team of eleven is an international collaboration between academic and industry professionals led by Professor Tiziana Rossetto from University College London. They began their mission on 17 November, visiting the Palu area, Balaroa district, Sigi, Donggala regency and other areas affected.
