Congratulations to Glenn Bell FIStructE, who has been presented with the President’s Award by the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

The award, which was presented on Friday 20 April at the Structures Congress in Ft Worth, Texas, was made “in recognition of…exemplary contributions to the success of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE”, commending him for his “visionary leadership”.

Glenn said:

“This award is special to me as it is recognition from SEI of the value of the work we have been doing to build collaboration between IStructE and SEI for the global good of structural engineering. In this sense, many share the honour, on both sides of the pond.”

Glenn has worked for more than 40 years as a structural engineer at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH), a US-based structural engineering firm, where he has been responsible for creative design of structures internationally.

A board member of the Institution, his passion is working with professional and academic institutions to help prepare the structural engineering profession for future leadership roles, helping society meet its grand challenges.
