2018 prize-winning papers published in Structures, the Institution’s research journal, are free to read for three months.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2018 Structures Prizes, who have again demonstrated the vibrant state of structural engineering research, with papers that demonstrate the journal’s commitment to publishing not only high-quality research, but research that will have an impact beyond the research community, promising real application in industry. This year was the third year that prizes were awarded.


The winning articles are:

Best Research Paper Prize 2018: Moment-Curvature-Thrust Relationships for Beam-Columns (Andrew Liew, Leroy Gardner and Philippe Block)

and 

Best Research Into Practice Paper Prize 2018: Prestressing in Coventry Cathedral (Chris Burgoyne and Owen Mitchell)

Structures Prize Winners 2018

The Structures Prizes are sponsored by Elsevier, with an award of £500 made to the authors of each winning paper.
