Service Award for Jeff Fisher
The Institution’s People and Papers Awards ceremony was held on 7 June 2018 at Church House in Westminster.
A ‘Service Award’ was announced to Jeff Fisher for his outstanding services to the Institution. Congratulations to Jeff, who was Chairman of the Regional Group in 2008 and 2016. He was the Regional Group Secretary and an Institution’s Council member between 2008 and 2012 and in 2016. In addition, he served the Institution through various committees including Professional Conduct Committee and the Award Papers judging panel.
Jeff is Technical Director with Mott MacDonald. He has over 39 years of experience in the field of bridge engineering including the design and construction of long span steel and concrete bridges in UK, Hong Kong, Mozambique, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Portugal.
He has been associated with long span suspension and cable stay bridges, with spans up to 1377m in regions of high winds and seismic activity.
His international experience embraces working on the major structures including Tsing Ma Bridge, Tsing Lung Bridge, the Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong, the Incheon Bridge in South Korea and the Severn Bridge in UK. Recently he has been involved with the design development of HS2.
Prior to joining Mott MacDonald, he was involved with research in the field of stressed skin design at Salford University under Professor’s Bryan and Davies.
