PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Adaptive re-use of an existing building represents sustainability at the very heart of fine design. This project breathed new life into an existing building in an innovative and thoughtful manner. A large atrium space was carved out of the building, thereby providing crucial architectural intent through appropriate structural intervention.
The result is a thoroughly modern, yet historic, CorTen building which has been transformed for modern use through a series of well-conceived structural alterations.

Judge's comment:

Lakeshore represents the vision which can be achieved when an historic building is considered for its opportunities rather than for its faults. By combining this vision with structural excellence, the result is a wonderful building which many now call home.
