PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This slender 40m steel arch bridge is the newest crossing of the River Thames and was designed for installation in a single operation. The arches are triangular in cross section and lean outwards to produce a dramatic visual effect.

Judge's comment:

The team delivered an aesthetically driven solution that appropriately considered budget, constructability, durability, and maintenance.

The final form is complimentary to its natural surroundings both visually and physically in its alignment to respect existing trees.

The engineering input was clearly part of the resulting positive impact on the community; enhancing user experience through design, connecting residents and tourists, and revitalising the riverside.
