A project that showcases how lightweight, rigid, freeform, curved structures can be built from affordable sheet materials. The entire construction process was driven by 3D model geometry. Material use was minimal and the clean and precise construction produced a gravity defying thin loop. The structure was designed and constructed in three months.

Standing 30m high this single loop monocoque sculpture is the stunning result of efficient and collaborative design and construction.
The structure rests on just two foundations, which were recycled from pads poured in previous years that still exist underground at the festival site.
To get the fine lines required, the structure is less than 50cm wide at the narrowest point. The use of finite element analysis of wind and dynamic loads helped ensure the structure was as light as possible. The techniques informed the design, resulting in a very small amount of material being used considering the size and purpose of the structure.
The team have successfully delivered an impressive spectacle with a minimum use of material.
