This international award celebrates outstanding and innovative teaching techniques in structural engineering.

Entries

 

Your submission should be a maximum of 5,000 words (including 250 per illustration) provided as .doc file or PDF, with figures, graphs and other pictures as .tif, PDF or .png at 300 dpi or the highest resolution possible.

The submission should outline how you have developed innovative teaching philosophies and techniques to improve student learning at a tertiary level.

It may cover any bachelor’s or taught master’s course and should describe one or more of the following:

  • Developments in learning/teaching philosophies and their impact on learning outcomes
  • Learning tools and physical or electronic models for use in lectures, tutorials or laboratory classes
  • Methods of demonstrating/teaching specific concepts of structural behaviour
  • Self-learning activities for students
  • Methods of assessment
  • Course design

 

Judges will consider:

  • Innovation in teaching to improve learning
  • Evidence of effectiveness in improving the learning outcomes of students
  • Integration of the specific improvement into an overall scheme of learning/teaching

  • Warrant that you are the originators of the content put forward
  • Confirm that you are either the owners of the copyright of all material and agree to publication, or you have the permission of the copyright holders for publication by the Institution both on paper and online
