AN efficient mechanical handling system will deliver materials not only to the right place but also in the correct sequence and at a time to synchronize with the manufacturing process. But should the methods of handling not match the process then
confusion will ensue. Therefore methods of handling materials must not be judged on their own merits but should be considered as an integral part of a manufacturing process and it is only by a study of the operations involved in manufacture of a particular product that the "fitness for purpose" of a handling system can be assessed.
