The paper describes an experimental investigation into the structural behaviour of a particular type of bolted beam-column connexion, in which the connexion consists of a plate welded to the end of a beam and fastened to the flanges of the column by pretensioned high strength bolts. Some recommendations are made as to the plastic design of the component parts of such an assembly and general conclusions are drawn which may affect the plastic design of many types of bolted connexions.
