Project Description

Burj Khalifa is more than just the tallest building in the world. It is a tour de force of structural engineering that has risen to the considerable challenges of building at extreme height. The panel was impressed at the way the design engineers provided a structural diagram of exemplary simplicity using concrete and steel to their individual strengths and making effective use of the huge amounts of material required to build so high. In construction the engineers faced many new challenges, some anticipated and some not. They found ways to resolve them all and to keep the project moving forward. This project will provide new experience and knowledge of real value to the profession of structural engineering. Burj Khalifa is a unique monument to the triumph of man over nature and stands tall as a symbol of the ambition of a major city.
