Project Description

This four storey building is almost entirely constructed in structural timber in response to the desire to be at the forefront of sustainability. An innovative moment resisting frame system was devised and optimised to reduce cost and to be capable of withstanding seismic forces. Rarely used long span timber staircases and walkways have been carefully detailed in the atrium area, giving the building a unique feeling.

Judge’s comments

"To achieve such an economically competitive and sustainable design solution is a real success story for structural timber, which is expressed beautifully inside this innovative building. It clearly matches the Client's desire and takes the use of local and sustainable wood products to new heights."
