One of the three permanent venues of the 10th China Flower Expo this small pavilion has a sculptural feel. The main structure is divided into three independent parts: the sunken courtyard (including auxiliary rooms), the exhibition hall and the weaving structure. In order to strengthen the light and transparent form of the woven bamboo cocoon, the design introduces the exhibition hall and auxiliary rooms into the ground.
It is clear that structural engineers have been involved from the early stages in the design of this complex and unique structure.
Beyond the obvious pleasing architectural form of this project, it is the interesting and innovative use of materials that make this project worthy of consideration on the shortlist both for the bamboo composite weave and the 3D printed formwork supporting spray applied UHDC vaulted structure.
Overall a wonderful form and use of materials
