Project Description

A highly inventive pedestrian and cycle bridge and a key part of The City of Helsingborg’s plans to develop vibrant new neighbourhoods and revitalise its urban fabric. The use of parametric modelling merged design and analysis processes and created a seamless transition between traditionally distinct stages of design, fabrication and installation, which ultimately made this distinctive bridge more sustainable, structurally efficient, and cost-effective.

Judge’s comments

An usual and interesting hybrid of cable-stayed and suspension bridges that works well with geometry of the bridge and its harbour setting.

While the bridge has a complex doubly curved geometry the engineers ensured the fabrication was greatly simplified by their approach.  The foundations too were achieved in simple fashion.

An exciting bridge that has been very well executed through accomplished engineering by the team.
