A 50-storey steel framed building with composite metal deck flooring supported on composite cellular plate girder beams. The building contains several low carbon design features, including a highly optimised steel frame, an advanced hybrid raft foundation solution, and innovative double-skin closed cavity façade.
This is a distinctive addition to the City of London's skyline and the tallest building in the UK to recieve BREEAM outstanding accreditation. The project showcases an innovative stability system consisting of an external diagrid and internal reinforced concrete cores working together. Use of inclined columns over several storeys to avoid transfers is a nice detail. The overall finish, with exposed structural steel and concrete elements, shows excellent attention to detail and an impressive commitment to achieving the overarching architectural vision.
